Circuit Breaker Technician

About This Opportunity:
Shermco is currently seeking a Breaker Shop Technician to support operations within our Saskatchewan team. This hands-on role involves servicing, repairing, and remanufacturing low, medium, and high-voltage electrical apparatus and breakers in a shop environment. The ideal candidate will be mechanically inclined, detail-oriented, and eager to develop technical expertise through on-the-job training.
Overhaul, retrofit, rebuild, remanufacture, service, troubleshoot, and test a wide variety of low, medium, and high-voltage electrical equipment, including:
Circuit breakers (e.g., GE, Westinghouse, Powell, ABB, ITE, Eaton, etc.)
Switchgear and electrical panels
Motor control centers (MCCs), contactors, and associated apparatus
Disassemble and assemble components in accordance with manufacturer specifications and safety standards
Conduct inspections and diagnostics to identify faults or performance issues
Perform repairs using appropriate tools, testing equipment, and technical documentation
Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and equipment status
Support general housekeeping and organization of the breaker shop, including inventory control and workspace maintenance
Participate in training and hands-on learning to enhance skills and technical knowledge
Ensure all work meets required quality, safety, and compliance standards
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or trade school certification is an asset
Mechanical or electrical background preferred; experience in electrical apparatus service a plus
Familiarity with low, medium, and high-voltage systems considered an advantage
Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, manuals, and schematics
Strong attention to detail, manual dexterity, and mechanical aptitude
Willingness to learn and perform duties to a high level of competency
Able to lift up to 50 lbs and work in an industrial shop environment
Strong work ethic, team orientation, and commitment to safety
Must be eligible to work in Canada
Valid driver’s license preferred
