Lead the Power Behind Critical Infrastructure


Shermco Industries is seeking an experienced Technical Service Manager to lead and grow our technical services team in Calgary. This role is ideal for a NETA-certified leader who thrives in a fast-paced power systems environment and wants to combine technical expertise, operational leadership, and business growth.


You will oversee field operations, mentor high-performing technicians and supervisors, and help drive the continued expansion of Shermco’s power system services across Western Canada. This role also provides the opportunity to remain technically engaged with complex projects while leading and developing a highly skilled team.


NETA III and NETA IV certified professionals are strongly encouraged to apply.

Responsibilities

Leadership

  • Provide strategic leadership to the Alberta Technical Services team and support staff to ensure the consistent delivery of high-quality services to Shermco clients.
  • Foster an inclusive, positive, and respectful workplace culture, maintaining an open-door environment that encourages constructive communication and the proactive resolution of concerns.
  • Support departmental initiatives and undertake additional responsibilities as assigned to advance operational objectives.

Project Management

  • Oversee and coordinate multiple technical projects, maintaining regular engagement with project managers to ensure schedules, resources, and deliverables remain on track.
  • Support management in the execution of technical projects, specialized studies, and the development of internal standards and best practices.

Technical Services Management

  • Optimize the utilization of departmental resources including personnel and equipment to deliver client services in a safe, timely, and cost-effective manner.
  • Provide guidance to technical staff in resolving complex technical challenges, project management issues, and safety considerations.
  • Review departmental financial performance, including costs and revenues, in collaboration with the VP, Operations – Alberta, and identify opportunities for operational improvement.

Business Development

  • Support sales and marketing initiatives through client engagement, proposal and quotation development, and identification of new business opportunities.
  • Serve as a technical resource for clients by addressing inquiries and providing subject-matter expertise.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Electrical Engineering Technology or a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • Professional designation as an Applied Science Technologist (A.Sc.T.) or Professional Engineer (P.Eng.).
  • Demonstrated experience in industrial and utility electrical maintenance and commissioning, with a proven track record of leading and managing technical teams.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record and the ability to maintain driving eligibility.
  • Strong analytical and technical capabilities, combined with the ability to effectively engage and lead technical personnel.
  • Strong communication skills with a demonstrated ability to build and maintain positive client relationships.
  • Willingness and ability to travel, including overnight travel, as required to support field operations and project execution.
